Adirondacks Coast Wine Trail (7061 Route 9, Plattsburgh, NY 12901) http://adkcoastwine.com

Nestled on the shores of Lake Champlain, on the edge of the Adirondack Mountains, lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Officially established in 2013, the Adirondack Coast Wine Trail is the newest and most recently celebrated wine region in the United States. The Adirondack Coast Wine Travel travels 33 miles through farmland, small towns and the historic city of Plattsburgh linking six wineries. The unique wines embody the character of the Adirondack Coast; rugged and wild yet relaxed with a casual warmth.

The grapes grown here are hybrids of European grapes and hardy American rootstock that can withstand cold temperatures such as Frontenac, Cayuga White, Petite Amie and Louise Swenson. Many of these grapes were introduced to the world in just the last 10-15 years, so they’re like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Travel the trail and taste America’s newest wines, including the celebrated and expressive Marquette, our region’s masterpiece. Visit welcoming family-owned tasting rooms operated by vintners and cider makers proud to call the Adirondack Coast home.

Niagara Wine Trail (113 West Center Street, Medina, NY 14103) https://niagarawinetrail.org/

Minutes from Niagara Falls, and a short drive from Buffalo and Rochester, New York, the Niagara Wine Trail USA is regarded as a new up-and-coming region, but the art and science of grape growing and winemaking has been in our area for many years. There are records of a winery that was open during the 19th century, and one of our current member wineries produces fruit on vineyards that are over one hundred years old. Each winery on the trail offers a diverse selection of traditional vinifera style, native, late harvest and ice wines, as well as unique styles such as award-winning fruit wines, meads and ciders.

Geographically situated between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario, the wine region has a unique micro-climate. Located at Latitude 43 degrees North, the cool climate region of Niagara enjoys long days during the growing season. This makes it suitable for the production of the types of fruit that are used to create its fine wines. We enjoy the second longest growing season for grapes in New York State – the longer the growing season, the better the fruit.
